Crewel Intentions is a goldwork embroidery design based on crewel embroidery designs. It features a Tudor rose embroidered in silk shading and a honeysuckle embroidered in the Or Nue technique. The gold bullion and silks are set against a black satin background, showing them off beautifully. The piece utilizes a range of goldwork threads and techniques, making it a stunning sampler. The kit contains black delustered satin, felt, smooth, rough, bright check and pearl purls, 3 ply twist, rococco, smooth passing thread, gold kid, metallic organza, beads, silks, needles and instructions and is priced at $100.00 The design measures 17 cm x 28 cm.

Iris´, like Crewel Intentions, features a range of Goldwork threads. The burgundy flowers and goldwork are set against a backdrop of burgundy/gold French jacquard silk. This fabric is to die for and it was just crying out for goldwork, so I had to oblige. The stems are padded with cotton to raise them up and felt is also used for padding in the design. The flowers are outlined in smooth passing thread, which makes them appear to be raised off the fabric. The kit contains silk jacquard fabric, felt, metallic organza, gold kit, smooth, bright check and pearl purl, silks, metallic thread, couching thread, passing thread, 3 ply twist, check thread, needles and instructions. The design measures approximately 16 cms wide by 25 cms high. The kit costs $110.00

Or Nué Butterflies
This piece of embroidery features the Goldwork technique of Or Nué to create these Australian Butterflies ­ the Ulysses Swallow Tail (Papilio Ulysses) and the Richmond Birdwing (Ornithoptera Richmondia). They look stunning framed alone or together. The Ulysses Swallow Tail is 8 centimetres square while the Richmond Birdwing is 6.5 x 9.5 centimetres. The kit contains Benton and Johnson Smooth Passing Thread, Au Ver a Soie Silks, Madeira gold thread, calico, needles and instructions and is priced at $75.00

This third butterfly in the Or Nue series is slightly larger than the previous two. The size of this new butterfly is 8 cm x 9.5 cm. Kit cost $55.00

Or Nue Flowers from Shakespeare

Or Nue is a Goldwork technique that employs couching stitches in coloured silks to thread paint the design, while the background is couched in a matching metallic so that it is not seen. Historically, Or Nue is worked with either single or pairs of threads couched horizontally and occasionally vertically. ‘Modern’ Or Nue is couched in a circle to create two light planes instead of the single light plane that traditional Or Nue has. My version is ‘Contemporary Or Nue’ where wave lines are added to the circle to create even more light planes – giving the designs more reflections and thus more life. The four pieces each measure 9 cm x 12.5 cm.

Or Nue Minis
Or Nue is thread painting Goldwork style. The use of coloured silk threads to couch the gilt smooth passing thread create the design. The kit contains all requirements, including pre-coloured design on fabric, threads, needles and instructions. There is a choice of six designs available in this mini size: Holly, Pansy, Strawberry and Frog all worked over a gilt (gold) passing thread, Anemone on silver passing thread and Gecko on copper passing thread.
