Oriental Odyssey
An embroidery inspired by the designs of the East, this piece combines Goldwork techniques with a little Stumpwork to achieve this luxurious look ­ worked on a rich plum silk. It features use of kid and metallic organza, as well as both flat and raised Or Nue petals . Small button flowers float through the design which is encircled in gilt 4 ply gimp. A butterfly hovers in the scene. The design uses both gilt and purple purl and is approximately 20 cm x 26 cm.
